What style and length wedding veil should I use?

I have a mermaid style wedding dress and plan on doing my hair like a 40' s starlet style. I'm not sure if I should use an elbow length veil or a finger tip length veil. Its an outside, garden wedding in June. Thanks!

I think a Hannibal Lecter mask would be nice

I am a really big fan of the LONG veils with dresses that don't have much of a train. It looks so dramatic and elegant, but still a bit casual if the dress doesn't have a train.

Otherwise, you need to look at your dress to make this decision. You don't want the veil to hit right where the dress design is busy. Pick a rather naked spot for the veil to fall, and go with that length.

what ever you are most comfortable with

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is very exciting to hear!

Second, you should try them on with the dress first, then decide.

Go somewhere like a David's Bridal, even if you won't be purchasing it there, and bring your dress with you. Try on different veils (colors, styles, lengths, etc.).

I did this, and actually realized that with my style dress and hairstyle, no veil was needed. You can break tradition if you don't want.

My sister got married last month, and had a mermaid style dress. She chose the very long veil. It went past the tail of the gown, and it was absolutely gorgeous, and elegant!

So it depends on your style, and what your hubby-to-be will want to see his wife-to-be in!

I wish you the best though!!!

Since you have a mermaid dress, I would recommend an elbow length veil. That way the veil won't take away from the look of your dress and you can show off all the detail and the skirt.

for the mermaid style dress i would say the shorter veil would be the best, that way you can see the dress when walking down the asile better. And for the outside wedding the shorter the veil the more comfortable you will be, and it wont look heavy and thick it will look light and great

I would go elbow length, especially for an outdoor garden ceremony, fingertip is ussually a little formal, for like hotel ballroom or church wedding type stuff. I'm having a fingertip veil, but only for sentimental reasons cuz I'm using my moms, we updated it so its a little less 1981! Seriously tho, the long thing hangin back their drives me NUTS! If i wasn't doin my moms I would definetly for elbow length simply for comfort, cuz I plan to lose the veil asap! hope this helps!
